Travel Options From Las Vegas to Zion National Park

Driving Direct To Zion

When it comes to getting from Las Vegas to Zion National Park, there are a few routes you can take, but the most common and direct route is via Interstate 15 North. This scenic drive will take you through the heart of the Mojave Desert and offers some stunning desert landscapes along the way. Once you are on I-15 North travel just past St. Geroge, Utah and take exit 16 to hurricane. Once you have competed this make sure to type in the exact address of your location for specific directions from there.  Total drive time should be about 2 Hours and 15 Minuets depending on traffic and is approximately 152 miles.  Be sure to check the traffic conditions before you hit the road, especially if you’re traveling during peak season or holidays.

Personal Tip: After doing this drive several times myself, aim to leave between 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM traffic can get heavily congested both in Las Vegas and on the small roads in Zion at busy parts of the day adding time to your drive.

Flying to St. George, Utah

If you don’t want to deal with the hassle of driving and prefer to fly another option is to fly from Las Vegas to St. George Regional Airport. Daily flights are offered from Las Vegas and if purchased far enough in advance the price can be reasonable. The Airport is located in St. George, Utah just a 45-minute drive to Zion National Park. This is an excellent option for families with young children as the flight is short or for those looking to skip the long drive and maximize their time in Zion.

Getting from St. George to Zion

Once you’ve arrived in St. George, there are several transportation options available to get you to Zion National Park. Renting a car is the most convenient and flexible option, allowing you to explore the park at your own pace and make stops along the way. There are also shuttle services available from St. George to Zion National Park, which can be a convenient and affordable option for families traveling without a car.

Where To Stop Along The Way

Pit Stops Along the Way

While the drive from Las Vegas to Zion National Park is relatively straightforward, it’s always a good idea to plan some pit stops to stretch your legs, refuel, and take in some sights along the way. One popular pit stop is the Valley of Fire State Park, located about an hour northeast of Las Vegas. Here, you can explore otherworldly red rock formations, and ancient petroglyphs, and even enjoy a picnic amidst the desert scenery.

Another worthwhile detour is the quaint town of St. George, Utah, which lies just a short drive from Zion National Park. This charming town offers a variety of dining options, shopping opportunities, and cultural attractions. St. George is also home to some of the best golf courses in the country. If golf is something you love it makes it the perfect place to stop and recharge before continuing your journey to Zion.

Arriving In Zion

Once you’ve arrived at Zion National Park, you’ll be greeted by beautiful red rock and towering cliffs, lush greenery, and the tranquil waters of the Virgin River. One of the park’s most iconic attractions is the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive, a breathtaking road that winds its way through the heart of the canyon, offering stunning views at every turn.

For families with young children looking for the perfect beginner hike, a riverside walk is a must-do activity. One trail we highly recommend to start with is the Pa’rus Trail.  This easy, paved trail follows the Virgin River and is suitable for strollers and wheelchairs, making it accessible to everyone.
